BUILDING TOGETHER

In nature, there is a myriad of talented builders that are, because of their ability to change the environment and shape ecological niches, called ecosystem engineers.

This project brought together different types of builders: humans, social insects, corals and spiders, to encourage them to work together and address global challenges caused by a lack of communication.

Building together provides an opportunity and freedom of choice for different biological species to decide how they want to proceed in terms of constructing their own structures and thus contribute to building a “mutual” structure.

Instead of just observing and imitating the structures of different “builder species”, our intention is to map the building techniques and response of organisms to the construction process, as well as to improve our design and construction processes by learning and applying different principles from nature.
